So you’ve recorded your Podcast, and now you want to upload it to the site.

No problem. Only a few simple steps and you’ll be published.

Podfree.net uses a Plugin called “Podcasting” by Ronald Heft Jr.

Basically it is a two part process… Upload your media file to a “Post”…. then copy the URL to the “Podcasting” section at the bottom of the “Write Post” page.

Here are the details…

  1. Activate the “Podcasting” plugin in the “Plugins” tab
  2. Go to the “Options” tab and select “Podcasting”. This is where you fill in the general descriptions for your podcasts.
  3. Create a “Post”. Go to the “Write” tab and write a headline for your Post. You can also add to an existing Post.
  4. Scroll down to the “Upload” section. Browse to find the file you would like to upload.
  5. When you select the file and “Open” in the editor, you’ll get the opportunity to “Link to File” or “Link to Page”. If you want to allow people to view your Podcast from your blog page then “Link to page”. I suggest selecting “link to file”. Not sure what “Link to Page” does.
  6. Copy the URL of where the file was just uploaded to.
  7. Publish the page
  8. Paste the URL in the Podcasting section at the bottom of the “Write Posts” page and click “Add”.
  9. Include the specific details of this particular Podcast and click “Update”.
  10. Click on “Send to Editor”.

You’re Done!

Your Podcast resides at “Yourblog.podfree.net/feed/podcast”

Really, it’s there. Want to check? Open iTunes, click on “Advanced” in the toolbar. Select “Subscribe to Podcast” and include the URL where your podcast resides… “Yourblog.podfree.net/feed/podcast”

When you refresh your Podcasts in iTunes, you will notice that your Podcast has been added. Well worth the effort.

Or if you don’t want to go to this length, simply go to “Yourblog.podfree.net/feed/podcast” and you’ll notice it is an XML file with your Podcast file embeded within.

Want to let others know you’ve created a new Podcast? Simply register your Podcast with Blog Catalog or Blog Flux or Pingomatic or Pingoat, be sure to include the URL where your Podcast resides “Yourblog.podfree.net/feed/podcast” and Ping all the services you want notified. Do this whenever you post a new Podcast. You only need to register with one site because they all ping the same directories (more or less).

Hope this makes your Podcasting career easy and trouble free.
